10 hidden gems along the Sea to Sky Highway

If there’s ever been a place to slow down and take your time exploring, it’s along the Sea to Sky Highway. There are, of course, the big attractions, like the Sea to Sky Gondola, the Chief, or Shannon Falls, but we’ve round-up some equally picturesque stops that can be overlooked.

Eagle Run Viewing Shelter

Squamish

During the winter months, take in the magnificent sight of majestic bald eagles at the Eagle Run viewing shelter. Located on the municipal dyke across from the BC Easter Seals Camp Squamish at 41015 Government Road, you can spot the wintering eagles across the river in their protected park.

Squamish Oceanfront Interpretive Trail

Squamish

Stroll the estuary and shores of the Howe Sound on the wide gravel track of the Squamish Oceanfront Interpretive Trail, you’ll find the trail head at the end of Cleveland Avenue, by the Howe Sound Brew Pub. When the tide is out, the beach becomes a wide stretch of sand, and the views are always spectacular.   

The Watershed Grill

Squamish

For fans of Netflix’s Virgin River, The Watershed Grill in Squamish serves as the film site for exterior shots of Jack’s Bar. Stop in for a bite to eat or stroll by the river and enjoy the stunning views in person.

Brohm Lake Interpretive Forest

Brohm Lake is a hot spot on a warm summer’s day, but you can escape the crowds by heading down the trails leading around and behind the lake.

Alexander Falls

If you’re heading to check out the Whistler Olympic Park, pull over at the Alexandra Falls viewpoint and take in the plummeting falls.

Parkhurst Ghost Town Trail

An abandoned logging settlement on the shores of Green Lake, hike through the Parkhurst Ghost Town. Inspect the remnants of the town as it is reclaimed by the forest, and enjoy the great views over the lake.

Ancient Cedar Trail

Whistler

Just North of Whistler, hike through the forest to an impressive grove of old-growth cedar trees.

Loggers Lake

Whistler

Sitting in the crater of an ancient volcano, Logger’s Lake is a tranquil spot to relax. Surrounded by lava rock rather than sand, it is the warmest lake in Whistler.
